HAH!
by David Kowis on Sep.29, 2007, under W00t!
It was a fuse in the A/C blower. Apparently there’s a little 5A fuse (like the fuses in your vehicle) that had blown. Replacing it saved me $84. How bout that?
Don’t get too happy

Things start to look up, and then *SLAM* get knocked back down into the mire. The A/C at my house quit working. No clue why. Seems like it’s got no voltage. The thermostat runs off batteries when it doesn’t have voltage coming off the Cyan line, and when I took the batteries out, it wasn’t on. Checked all the breakers and everything else. nothing. Can’t get a service tech out here until Monday morning. Even then it’s $84. Wonderful. That’s not including parts and labor. But what are you going to do? Not fix the AC?
What’s bothered me the most about this entire problem is that it seems every time the power fluctuates at my house, whether due to a lightning storm or something else, stuff breaks. Last time we believed it was a power surge which took out a myriad of our appliances, thankfully none of the major appliances. Thursday, (two days ago) the power was out for several hours. The A/C worked until today. May not be related, but I can’t help but be suspicious. I’m really quite angry that our A/C has busted. It’s barely a year and a half old. These things are supposed to work for many years before giving up…
Hopefully you haven’t noticed….

The blog is now running on a different computer. It’s slower and faster at the same time. It’s a Quad Pentium 3 500 with 2mb cache per cpu, 2.5GB ram and a pile of SCSI drives in RAID5 configuration. Disk I/O is slower than I would like it to be, but it’s still (hopefully) faster than the internet connection. And it should be able to handle multiple concurrent accesses, since I’ve heard SCSI is good at that. I’ve consolidated my systems into one, so I can run less machines, and this one has more redundancy built into it, so it should be more reliable hardware. Still running Source Mage.
It’s also got a tape drive. So once I acquire some tapes, I can make real backups! OMFG.
This is sad

1 U.S. dollar = 1.0131004 Canadian dollars
Yep. The US dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar. We seriously need to wake up as a country. Our economy blows!
Pulling out of our extranational conflicts may allow “the terrorists” to “win,” but they’re already winning. Our country is the economically weakest it’s been in a long time. Perhaps ever. The US dollar, once the strongest monetary unit in the world, is now worth it’s weight in gold. Which doesn’t say much, considering it’s PAPER.
Soon, that’s all it’ll be worth. Just a sheet of paper. IIRC, the confederate states of america, a long, long time ago, had the same problem. Their ‘dollar’ wasn’t worth anything. It wasn’t gold or silver backed. Our money needs something behind it to give it weight.
The only politician that I’ve seen that seems to get this is Dr. Ron Paul. He’s the only one that notices that our country is spiraling downward. The Gov’t is in such great debt that it should be bankrupt. Something needs to be done. There is only one hope for America.
Finally blew away the serendipity

Yeah, it’s gone. There wasn’t anything useful in it anyway. Of course, it’s what shows up the most in google :/ Oh well.
Now I’ve got a redirect working so it sends you to my wordpress blog. Not that there’s much useful content in here either….
/me is lame on the interwebs. But at least I’m there!
