Sorry if stuff is broken, not that anyone really reads this.
I yanked wordpress over to my “migration server” whilst I’m in the process of updating the site. I need to add a redirect for the source mage fallback. Although, a 404 will allow it to go onto the next fallback.
Tomorrow my cpu coolers arrive and the thing gets put together, at least I hope so. It might not get put together as I’ve got things to do in real life.
So for the most part I think this stuff copied over fairly atomically. I was able to copy over configs directly from the working server to this one. I’m fairly happy with the result. It’s probably not optimal, but it works.
So this server is a 64-bit Xen virtual machine running on a dual core amd64. It’s only temporary until I can get the real server up. I wanted to get this set up because I bet it’ll take me longer than a day to get the new box working. And it’ll give me time to try to set up mail in a truly virtual format. Possibly set up LDAP authentication too. Basically having this part alone I can dork with the rest of the network and still get the most important stuff: emails.
Oh man, if you could see the hacks I’ve done. I had updated glibc on my router and it crapped out too. So that’s been rebuilding like a mad man, and just finished as I’m typing this. So now I can cast shorewall, shorewall6, dhcp, djbdns, and squid and restore it’s working config. Then I can take out the linksys router that I bought for $20 that’s been holding the network together. It’s pretty scary. But it’s working. Just don’t look at it wrong… I think I’ll call this “Agile Networking” because I’ve had some serious, “OMG ADAPT NOW” moments. But it works, I can play EvE and I can build most things. Samba continues to work without issues, since it uses NetBIOS to find hosts. Speaking of which, I need to queue up the production of my battleship and I’m going to go to sleep.
Oh, and apologies to GoogleBot, because he’s goign to get a lot of 404s :(
